1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of HireAm, Nigeria's labour and skilled-services marketplace that connects customers with skilled professionals (“Workers”).
By creating an account, logging in, or using any part of the platform, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, legally able to enter into contracts, and that you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use HireAm.
2. Definitions
“Customer” means a registered user who posts jobs or hires Workers through the platform.
“Worker” or “Professional” means a registered user who offers skilled services through the platform.
“Job” means any request for services created by a Customer, whether posted openly or sent directly to a Worker.
“Verified” means a Worker whose identity documents have been reviewed and approved by the HireAm team. Verification does not constitute a guarantee of workmanship.
3. Accounts & Registration
You must provide accurate, current and complete information during registration, including your real name, a working phone number and your location. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.
You may register with an email address and password, or by using Google sign-in. One person may not operate multiple accounts to manipulate reviews, evade suspensions, or mislead other users.
HireAm may suspend or terminate accounts that provide false information, violate these Terms, or pose a risk to other users.
4. Customer Obligations
Customers agree to describe jobs honestly and completely, to be present or reachable at the agreed time and location, and to treat Workers with respect.
Prices and budgets displayed on HireAm are indications. The final price for a job is agreed directly between the Customer and the Worker before work begins.
Customers agree to leave reviews that are truthful and based on genuine completed jobs only.
5. Worker Obligations
Workers agree to represent their skills, experience and qualifications truthfully, to honour accepted jobs and agreed prices, to arrive on time, and to perform work with reasonable skill and care.
Workers must only upload documents and portfolio photographs that belong to them. Submitting forged or altered documents is grounds for immediate permanent suspension and may be reported to the relevant authorities.
Submitting a verification document is mandatory. A professional account cannot be created without uploading a valid government-issued ID or trade certificate (NIN, driver's licence, voter's card, international passport, trade certificate or utility bill). Accounts found to have registered with false or unverifiable documents will be suspended.
Workers are independent contractors. Nothing in these Terms creates an employment, agency or partnership relationship between any Worker and HireAm.
6. Identity Verification
Workers may submit government-issued identification (such as NIN, driver's licence, voter's card or international passport) and trade certificates for review. Approved Workers receive a “✓ Verified” badge.
Verification confirms that documents appeared genuine at the time of review. It is not an endorsement, guarantee or warranty of a Worker's skill, conduct or reliability. Customers should always exercise their own judgement.
Documents are stored securely, are visible only to HireAm administrators, and are never shared publicly.
7. Payments
At present, HireAm does not process payments. All payments for services are made directly between the Customer and the Worker, and HireAm is not a party to those transactions.
When in-platform payments are introduced, additional payment terms (including platform fees and refund rules) will be published and will require your separate acceptance before use.
All monetary amounts displayed on the platform are in Nigerian Naira (₦) unless clearly stated otherwise.
8. Reviews & Ratings
Reviews may only be submitted by Customers for jobs that were completed through the platform. Reviews must be honest, relevant and free of abusive language.
HireAm may remove reviews that are fraudulent, defamatory, discriminatory, or that violate these Terms, and may adjust aggregate ratings accordingly.
9. Prohibited Conduct
You must not use HireAm to: break any law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; harass, threaten or defraud other users; post false jobs or fake applications; circumvent the platform to avoid accountability after first contact; scrape or harvest user data; upload malicious code; or impersonate any person or organisation.
Violation of this section may result in immediate suspension, removal of content, and reporting to law-enforcement agencies where appropriate.
10. Complaints & Disputes
Users may report problems through the in-app Report feature or by raising a dispute on a job. The HireAm team will review complaints, may contact both parties, and may apply remedies including warnings, verification removal, or account suspension.
HireAm facilitates dispute review in good faith but is not an arbitrator of private contracts between Customers and Workers and does not guarantee any particular outcome.
11. Limitation of Liability
HireAm provides a marketplace and does not itself perform services. To the maximum extent permitted by law, HireAm is not liable for the acts, omissions, workmanship or conduct of any Customer or Worker, nor for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from use of the platform.
The platform is provided “as is” and “as available”. While we work hard to keep HireAm secure and online, we do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.
12. Privacy & Data Protection
We collect and process personal data (name, contact details, location, identity documents for Workers, and usage data) solely to operate the marketplace, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).
We never sell your personal data. Identity documents are restricted to authorised administrators. You may request correction of your account data at any time from your Account page, or contact info.hiream@gmail.com for data requests.
13. Suspension & Termination
You may stop using HireAm at any time. HireAm may suspend or terminate your access immediately if you breach these Terms, submit false documents, or endanger other users. Obligations relating to completed jobs, reviews and disputes survive termination.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the platform grows — for example when payments, subscriptions or new countries are introduced. We will post the updated Terms on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
15. Governing Law & Contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Nigeria shall have jurisdiction over any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably.
Questions about these Terms can be sent to info.hiream@gmail.com.
